Project designed by Endo&Psiche – Dr. Sona Haroni
7 women with endometriosis who wish to explore the technique of theater counseling and bring their personal experience to the stage, processing it with the group and the support of the psychotherapist.
Each participant writes and performs his or her own piece on stage, under the skillful guidance of the director.
The protagonists
The theater company
Imperfette Sconosciute
Why did we choose this name? We have been called exaggerated, overly sensitive, stressed, hypochondriac, annoying, crazy…
But we are none of these things. We are imperfect women who tell their daily stories of apparent “normality,” that same normality that has pushed us to the margins, belittled us, made us insecure, forced to measure ourselves against the perfection of a symbolic body we have never been able to resemble, stuck with nameless pain.
And that is why we are strangers: invisible to doctors and society for most of our lives, we met as imperfect strangers and finally saw each other, understood, believed.
A magical encounter that becomes theater and returns to being, then, life.

The show
Imperformance
Stories of women with endometriosis
The story of women with endometriosis is one of imperformance, of falling, of stumbling, of pain. But also of rebirth, of love and sharing.
In a world that pushes us to performance at any cost, even that of health, we have decided to tell our frailties, our dark moments, our traumas that become, thanks to the strength of the group and staging, the push that allows us to take off our masks and reveal ourselves.
In this journey of music, photography, art, emotions, memories and imaginary worlds (not so much) in which everything is absurd but nothing is unreal, we bring to the stage our imperformances to liberate ourselves, and liberate you, from any constraints to “having to be.”
Fragments, suggestions, phrases, and images that will take you on a journey of discovery of what endometriosis is and how, thanks to theater, we bring it into the spotlight to come out of invisibility.
And we with her.

The objectives of the project
Why counseling theater for endometriosis.
To contribute to information and outreach on the topic of Endometriosis from a different point of view than usual, one that fosters an empathetic exchange in the public
Endometriosis
Endometriosis is an inflammatory disease that occurs when endometrial-like tissues grow outside the uterus, causing pain, infertility, cysts, and fibrosis.
This chronic, systemic condition requires a multidisciplinary approach to diagnosis and treatment.
It affects about 1 in 7 women, with more than 200 million women worldwide and more than 3 million in Italy.
Due to lack of knowledge and diagnostic delay (8-10 years), the disease often progresses without proper treatment.
Although there is still no definitive cure, increased awareness stimulates improved medical resources and endometriosis research.
Theater counseling
Theater counseling is an art therapy methodology that combines theater techniques and counseling to improve psychological and physical well-being.
It uses the creative power of theater to explore emotions, thoughts and relationships, helping people cope better with life experiences.
This approach fosters personal and group growth, allowing for the expression of what cannot be said in words through “part play.”
It stimulates creativity, increases awareness and helps to deal with difficult situations.
It has also been used to raise awareness of chronic diseases and improve disease management by reducing loneliness.
